Here's what the town manager says...
New Finance Director Appointed
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Hanthingy as the new Finance Director for the Town. Ms. Hanthingy will begin work with the Town on April 26th. She is currently the Chief Financial Officer for the Town of Colchester and the Colchester Public Schools. Before that, she was the Controller for the Town of Glastonbury.
I am very excited about having Ms. Hanthingy begin her position. Lisa has a lot of municipal experience and excellent references. She is one of the MUNIS Software experts in the State, and Wethersfield needs to become stronger and utilize all of the components of their current MUNIS system - something that is not being done right now. She has 20 years experience in the municipal financial world.
Ms. Hanthingy also has implemented new technology and began procedures which have streamlined the financial work being done in Colchester. I know she will bring these same talents to Wethesfield. I know Lisa will be an asset to our community and will be a great team member of our current staff.
The Town has been without a Finance Director since June, when Joseph Swetcky left for a new position with the Town of Wallingford. James Reynolds, retired Finance Director for the City of Middletown, has been working as the interim Finance Director since July.
***
I hope this works out. The press release "neglects to mention" that we did have a finance director hired after Swetcky left - named Rob Buden - who quit after a very short period of time and went back to Windham where he had been working.
