Eight months ago, politicians were wringing their hands
over high-energy costs. Now Hartford wants to tax
heating fuels and make heating your home more
expensive. They’re even considering more gasoline taxes!
HARTFORD THINKS YOU SHOULD PAY MORE
FOR NATURAL GAS, PROPANE, AND HEATING OIL
Hartford wants to extend NEW taxes to things that
aren’t taxed. And then REPEAL tax exemptions
on things it doesn’t tax now – like heating fuels,
prescription drugs, food…
HAD ENOUGH?
It’s wrong for the government to be taxing necessities
like home heating at a time when we can least afford
it.We already pay the highest residential electric rates
in the lower 48 states. We can’t let home heating fuels
wind up in that category, too.
TELL HARTFORD LOUDLY AND CLEARLY:
“NO TAXES ON HEATING FUELS –
NO NEW TAXES ON MOTOR FUELS!”
Call your elected representatives today!

Speaker of the House - Toll-Free 1-800-842-1902

Senate President - Toll-Free 1-800-842-1420
Senate Minority Leader - Toll-Free 1-800-842-1421
As if the cost of living in
Connecticut isn’t high enough!
A tax on
heating oil?
Natural
gas?
Cromwell, CT • icpa.org/no_taxes.html
Washington has proposed tax increases on oil and
natural gas that will increase the cost of living for every
single family in America.
DOES GOVERNMENT UNDERSTAND WHAT THE
AVERAGE AMERICAN IS GOING THROUGH?
The new Federal budget calls for a “cap-and-trade”
scheme that will add more than $600 billion in new
energy taxes!
This is not the fiscal responsibility we were promised
and these unprecedented taxes will have devastating
effects on an already struggling American economy.
Increasing taxes on oil and natural gas will
• Stifle economic recovery
• Cost thousands of American jobs each year
• Increase consumer prices for home heating fuels
• Reduce investment in new domestic energy supplies
• Reduce local, state, and federal revenue
TELL CONGRESS:
STOP TAX INCREASES ON ENERGY
Call Washington today. Tell them taxing energy is the
wrong direction for our families, our jobs, and our future.
Sen. Christopher Dodd - (202) 224-2823
Sen. Joseph Lieberman - (202) 224-4041

Rep. John Larson - (202) 225-2265
Rep. Christopher Murphy - (202) 225-4476
Rep. Jim Himes - (202) 225-5541
MEANWHILE,
WASHINGTON WANTS
TO TAX OIL AND
NATURAL GAS, TOO!
