Rather than whining like a little baby that he can't sing he should be explaining to us why he has done nothing to lower our taxes. He says he can't sing...I say he can't legislate. Lucky for him, I can't vote.

Other than being a basically nice guy, Paul hasn't done much for Wethersfield or the state in his 12 years in the House. He's brought home a "showmobile", bits and pieces of the funding for the nature center, artificial turf, and other trinkets which pale in comparison to what other towns get. In addition, it's pretty tough to have been in the legislature as long as he has without rising to a leadership position.
We as a town have to do much better than having Paul in the Senate and Russ in the House if we ever want to be seen as anything other than another "reliable" Democratic, pro-union, anti-business town that doesn't mind being hosed at tax time every year.

I am wondering if mocmoc is a convicted felon, illegal immigrant, or possibly underage? Knowing how much Paul Doyle actually cares about our town, and how much effort he affords us during his tenure, he will get my vote (and I can & do vote).

Maybe mocmoc is in the 65% of the town that is "represented" by Hartford's own John Fonfara and is therefore unable to vote for or against Paul Doyle.
Also, it's possible to "actually care" and still be an ineffectual legislator. I didn't say that Paul didn't "care" or that he didn't "try". I was simply saying that he hadn't done anything of any real value for the residents of the town despite being sent to Hartford for a dozen years.

oldetowne, your point is well taken - but do you honestly think Capenera will be a better representative? I personally do not. Ralph comes across (to me) as being self serving. Doyle at least has an impeccable record of ethical behavior (not that Ralph doesn't, I just dont know), plus Paul's legal background is an asset. I know that Paul does a lot of behind the scenes stuff that never gets talked about, plus he is generous with his time & money towards local charities. It is hard enough to find honest politicians anywhere these day's with no skeletons in their closet, and we are lucky enough to have one right here in Doyle.

I don't see Ralph as being any more or less self-serving than anyone who is in the political arena (except maybe Donna Hemmann, who appears to be running for the legitimate good of the town).
I've known Paul for a long time and I like him. But I'm not convinced that having him sit in the Senate for the next 12 (or 20, or 30) years is going to solve any of our problems. I'd rather give Ralph an opportunity to show what can be done by someone who is not a career Democratic politician whose motivation is the next office up on the ladder or a judgeship and a taxpayer funded pension.

Capenera is a successful business guy who made a lot of money. I doubt he’s running because he needs a job. Doyle has some ethical issues. When the CRRA made a 220 Million dollar loan to Enron, Doyle was drawing a paycheck from the CRRA as their attorney while also being a State Rep. Doyle is not as ethical as some would like to suggest and besides that, what has he really done for Wethersfield? Worse yet, he's a cry baby and I can't stand cry baby's.

Reading Mr. Doyle's campaign ad in Weth. Life one of his issues is:
"Fighting for real property tax reform so communities are not forced to pit seniors against children and good schools"
I'm sure if we looked back in Mr. Doyle's prior campaigns he probably brought up the same issues. His party has been in the majority for many years with the last few having a veto proof senate and almost the same in the house.
Do they want to fix anything or just keep the issue alive every two years.
He calls himself "a proven leader who gets results", well were waiting!
