Don't bother telling us. Tell Shirley. That's the only way anything gets done in town.

earthquate, You offered "Fred Bove." I am not a WVFD insider, so the name doesn't even ring a bell. I went to their website and found listed: - Acting Chief : Mark Mahder
- Assistant Chief (Car 2): Mark Mahder - Personnel, Budget, Operations
- Deputy Chief (Car 3): Charles Varca - Buildings and Radios
- Deputy Chief (Car 4): Mark Console - Training and Equipment
- Deputy Chief (Car 5): Charles Flynn - Training and Health & Safety
- Fire Marshal (Car 6): Gary Santoro - Fire Investigation & Prevention
- Department Captain (Car 7): Robert Clark - Department Engineer
- Department Captain (Car 8): Public Information Officer - Paul Thompson
I am only acquainted with a few of these. But, I am sure the general (outside) public would probably like to know, why Fred Bove, and not one of the above "officers". Would you and others care to weigh in here?

Dr. Foot: Frankly Sir, I'm shocked with all your vast knowledge and expertise, you don't know who Fred Bove is. Fred is a is a 30 + year member of Company 2, Past Captain and a decorated fireman to boot. Perhaps my good Doctor you should perform a "google" on him and expand your narrow views sir!

Rusty,
Thanks for providing more information.
I am not reluctant to ask for or seek information when I don't have it and I feel I need it. Like each of us, we know certain things very well and other things not at all.
Do you really think that the vast majority of the public in Wethersfield knows who he is? For those people who are in the WVFD and who are related to those fire suppression volunteers, you are probably right; they know him well. I didn't. Now I have a little more information than I did before. I appreciate it - really.
That brings me back to my original question, why him over any of the other current "officers" in the WVFD?
Is the body of the WVFD going to be polled, here, online or otherwise, to see what their concensus is? If they do "vote" and offer an opinion, how will that influence the selection of the next Chief?
The WVFD provides a needed and valuable service. Most people appreciate it but really don't know how this organization functions though (yeah, except to suppress fires, etc.). I don't think I am much different than many people in town who use a service but really don't know how the gears of the machine work. They just want it to work.
The WFVD (especially volunteers who might post here honestly and anonymously) and you would be most helpful if they explained some of this to the public.

To just verify. All the individuals listed are under the "OLD"Regime.Nobody in power now can hold the position or things will remain the same>>FULL SPEED REVERSE<<. This is why to endorse Fred,It will sart things totally over again and in the correct direction>>FULL SPEED FOWARD<<.This is what nobody get`s. This is why Fred needs to become Fire Chief in Wethersfield!!!!

Wasn't there a Bove as a past chief many years ago? If my memory serves me correctly, he was an outstanding chief with good qualities and leadership skills. We need that again and I would throw my hat in the ring for Fred.

Rumor is Chuck Flynn is the new Fire Chief. If this is true he'll do a good job, but will have his hands full.
