Do we bother to fix potholes anymore? They are multiplying faster than rabbits at a 4 H fair. I thought last year when our taxes went up 18% we had some patching in there. Maybe when they go up 15% this year we can do some patching. Now that the Fire Chief has been fired, we could put his salary towards road repair. ;D

There are four ways to repair potholes: cold patch (could be done now); hot patch; (will be done after the last frost); milling and resurfacing the road (will eventually be done as town funds and "scheduling" allows) and rebuilding the road (not very likely short of major disaster). Considering everything, I recommend patience and slower and attentive driving.

There is another way, which would mean purchasing a piece of equipment, but the patch is the best.
The piece is either a trailer mounted (wheels) or attaches on the back of a truck. The patch can be done 365. Large propane burners are lowered over the spot, the existing material melts to a consistency of new hot patch material, is graded and new material bonds with this to form a new surface. Better than a patch.

Is Quiznos' any good? I've been meaning to try it.

You can't drive down any streets without hitting a pothole. You guys keep making excuses on everything from being to cold to not having the proper equipment.
Take a drive through Rocky Hill and try to find a pothole.
Maybe we can try some Quizno's subs to patch the holes, at least that would be progress.

That's another example of the kind of management that required us to bond for road repairs instead of fixing them over time. Too little money devoted to REAL infrastructure and too much attention paid to politically flashy projects that generate nothing. We spent more on the "Show-Mobile" than on sidewalks over the past few years. We spent more time discussing the dead-on-arrival "facade renovation loan program" than we did on roofs in town facilities. I won't even mention the artificial turf - everyone's opinions are too emotional on that for a rational discussion. Until we find a way to get our management level payroll under control (e.g., do you know how many weeks of vacation the Fire Marshal gets each year?) and demand some real performance, the same kind of "last year plus 8% because nobody has the nerve to cut anything" approach to government will drive the town to ruin.

I agree with Old Towne! Too much time and money spent on show off stuff. I would also like to reference another post about a police dog. We should definetly have even more than one. Remember folks, we are abutting Hartford, which seems to me to be in the middle of crisis they cannot handle. We have to enforce our borders!
My vote is fix our roads, get some police dogs and stop with all the other junk thats been the ONLY talk of this town for over a year.

It seems like every street you drive on, you encounter potholes. I have not seen the town crews fixing any. Do we have a pothole budget? Or did they not fund the snow budget enough. I'll agree if you drive in RH the streets are in good shape. Maybe we can have the RH crew come here and teach our crews how to maintain.

The potholes are getting worse. I hit a monster hole at Coppermill and Highland and ruined the rim on my moped. I drive around different towns and Wethersfield is the worse. Shame on our current council for not even caring about potholes.
