While i'm a roll here, in the last few weeks while driving around I have seen some of the most irresponsibe idiots in a long time. Both men and women. They get on those phones and they are oblivious to the outside world. 50mph in left lanes and when you pass them with that smug/pissed look on your face, they don't even see you. Most of these morons can't chew gum and walk at the same time and now we have that group driving. God bless us all, we'll need it until they pass some type of hands-free law.
Maybe we should have people retake the driving test with a phone in their hand. We'll have a lot less traffic because they won't pass.

Yeah, everytime I'm swearing at some other bad driver, I look over and they are on a cell phone.

Yes I totally agree with everything that has been stated except passing a law... specific to hands free.
First, I can multi-task, drive and be on the phone, as I am sure you and many individuals can. I can afford and do have a hands free too( but many may not).
There are many drivers that read papers, apply make up, smoke, etc. that are just as distracted as those on the phone.
There are laws that are on the books that should be enforced to cover all the above when the driver is not operating appropriately.
Hands free is great, but many will not have a voice activated dialing/answering component, and will still need to take their eyes off the road completely, as they dial in the number.

You can't legislate common sense. New York has a hands free law and it doesn't work. The people are just as distracted and sometimes even more.
Their hands are now free to look at paperwork or stuff another Krispy Kreame doughnut down their throat, while washing it down with a cappuccino.

It looks like it will be the Law starting October 1st. Must use a head set... I agree with this.
Now if we could stop reading the newspapers, putting on make up, eating your Wendy's burger and a few others while driving, we might all be safer.
