Our State Government is becoming like an onion, the more you peel it the more it stinks. After all the other stuff from the Treasurer, Governor, Mayors from various citys and now the DOT, MVD and who knows what else. Watching Law and Order tonight the theme was about Connecticut and our corrupt Government. The Constitution State or The Corruption State

The government scandals are like a house of cards, it's amazing. Maybe now that these things are coming to light our state can get better.
On another note, I was watching the council meeting on tv the other night, and I head mention of our ranking in CT magazine. I was shopping last night and saw the magazine so I picked it up to see for myself. I'm so ashamed, we actually follow Middletown.

You guys forgot to mention the DEP, The State Police and countless other agencies I'm sure.
And let's not forget the MDC, with Bill DiBella and all of his baggage.
I think the Fed's could make a career out of CT politics.

I'm not surprised that Middletown and alot others are ranked ahead of us. They invest in there towns. Look at the fight in town just to get a field in playing condition and look at the poor quality of all other fields. Our roads and buildings are in disrepair and need attention. With the taxes that we pay, our ranking should be higher.

What do you mean they invest in their town? I was just looking at the recent release of the town wide mill rates in Connecticut and we are among the highest. Something is wrong.

Middletown just built a new High School, downtown is on the rebound, that's what I mean by re-investing in their town.
Look at Rocky Hill, they have invested heavily in there Park and Rec over the years and is starting to pay dividends.

With all the money Attorney General Blumanthal wastes going after Microsoft and Tobacco Companies, maybe he should focus closer to home with our own politicians.
He won't do that because when he shakes down Business he advances his own career and lines his own pockets with donations for his future campaign for Governor or the Senate.

For some (I am sure technical) reason not all posts are being mirrored in the "10 most recent posts" link or the most recent post link. I had posted the total count election results for Wethersfield under the thread: Across the Nation >> Elections 2004 >> Time to Unite. Hope you find this helpful. I have posted this message here to help other guests find it.

The Hartford Courant must be at a cross roads, with another corrupt politician (Mayor of Stamford) after all the time and effort to bring down former Gov. Rowland.
They thought we can push our guy in and next thing you know corruption rears it's ugly head.
The Courant really does not waste any ink or effort on the subject which is very telling.

SB, maybe there is a lesson to be learned in the following:
An American Indian walks into a cafe with a shotgun in one hand pulling a male buffalo with the other. He says to the waiter, "Me want coffee."
The waiter says, "Sure chief, coming right up." He gets the Indian a tall mug of coffee. The Indian drinks the coffee down in one gulp, turns and blasts the buffalo with the shotgun, causing parts of animal to splatter everywhere, then just walks out.
The next morning the Indian returns. He has his shotgun in one hand pulling another male buffalo with the other. He walks up to the counter and says to the waiter, "Me want coffee."
The waiter says, "Whoa, Tonto! We're still cleaning up your mess from yesterday. What was all that about, anyway?"
The Indian smiles and proudly says, "Me training for upper management position: Come in, drink coffee, shoot the bull, leave mess for others to clean up, disappear for rest of day." ;D

I guess we can add another part of government to the list, the prison system. If we want to get to the root of the problem, look at the Unions, they pull the strings of government. Also the Lt. Governor should be seen and not heard, this will be interesting with him running for Governor while doing his duties as Lt. Gov. State spending is way out of control and we are going to pay.
