I need to go back and re-read the article, but I am not really excited about forming another committee to deal with the Silas Deane, especially one with eminent domain power and the ability to spend millions, until I see a coherent plan that is in place more than two months. Taking away private property without any kind of plan or vision is not something that I can support yet. Also, I still am not convinced that anything done on the Silas Deane is going to make a measurable reduction in residential tax bills.

and, just so we don't waste time going down the wrong path, my opinion would be the same regardless of which party has the majority on Council and this has nothing to do with Cottone Field or lights.

You are right. An brief analysis of expense vs gain should be completed.

There won't be any money for the formulation of this agency (actually, I think it would be part of EDIC) for a while except possibly for some seed money from the STEAP grant the town's asked for... I agree that a plan must be in place and that's what the EDIC & SD commitee's been doing for some time. They need to put it all togther and then strat selling it around town. Even though whatever funds that are bonded then spent will more or less come back, I'm sure there will be opposition from people like Oldtowne who, it would seem, pass up a free Lewinsky!

Thanks for the update, Freshman. You once again have mistaken my skepticism for a knee-jerk reactionary opposition. I live in this town, have kids in school, pay taxes here, shop here, eat here, have many friends of long standing, and truly appreciate the strong sense of community that exists in Wethersfield. I really hope that there is or will be a coherent and logical plan and, if so, that it can be carried out.
By the way, you are correct that I would probably pass on the free Lewinsky. I take my wedding vows seriously.

Hey Oldtowne, don't take everything so seriously...Just trying for a little levity here. But, on a serious note, there are more than a few individuals who like to only see the doom & gloom around the world, Wethersfield especially... I would just like to see a note of optimism from you & a few others around town (namely the WTXA)...
