Town of Wethersfield
October 18, 2005
From the Town Managers Office
The Town of Wethersfield will be offering trash disposal assistance to homeowners affected by flooding and sewage back up from last week’s rain.
Residents of the affected streets may bring items to the Transfer Station at no charge for the next 10 days. You must have some type of identification with a street address. This disposal is only for home owners who had flooding or sewage damage.
In addition to the free drop off, the Town has scheduled pick ups for water damaged items. Pick up of water damaged items will occur on October 26th and 27th or you may put the items curbside on the same day as your refuse pickup.
Sewage damaged items cannot be picked up on these dates.
The Town is arranging the delivery of dumpsters for streets with sewage problems and will have Town crews work with the residents to move the items from the curb to the dumpster. Brookside Circle, Goodwin Park Road and Wells Farm Road will have dumpsters on Wednesday October 19th Thursday, October 18th and Friday, October 19th. Residents should have their items curbside by Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening.
Other streets that had sewage problems will have dumpsters scheduled for their area as soon as possible and will be notified directly.
Residents with questions should call the Town Manager’s Office at 721-2801 or Physical Services at 721-2845. Questions about the correct handling of sewage damaged items can be directed to the Health Department at 721-2822.
Governor Rell is working very hard to try and receive Federal assistance for reimbursement to Towns and Homeowners with damage. There is no guarantee that this will occur but we are urging residents to take pictures of damaged items and keep all receipts.
