Save the date - Saturday, June 11th - For the 4th annual Mikey's Place Golf Classic! There will be a couple of changes this year, including the course and the tee time - We go off at 11:00 am. at Goodwin Park Golf Course. We hope that the location and the earlier tee time will make the event more convienent and enjoyable for everyone (not that we dont like Keney but a change of pace is always nice). As always, you will get a lot for your money at this event - 18 holes with a cart, hot dog & beverage at the turn, full dinner after the tournament, and some great give away's and raffle opportunities. All money raised goes to the Mikey's Place maintenance & restoration fund, "Families of SMA", and Dollars For Scholars. We are now less than two weeks away from the 4th annual, and foursomes are filling up fast - we still have room, and need all who wish to play to get their registrations in as early as possible. You can sign up as a foursome or not - If there is just 1, 2, or 3 of you we will accomodate you. I want to remind all of the changes this year - first, we are playing at Goodwin Golf Course - second, we are teeing off at 11:00 am (this earlier start will allow more time for dinner, award presentations, raffles & socializing after the golf). We also have a new feature this year, on one of the par three holes you will find a "Beat The Pro" challenge. Professional golfer, Mike Colandro, has volunteered his time for the day, for which we are very grateful. And, as always, we have some outstanding raffles & give aways (Best Buys is again contributing, and we have a signed UCONN Women's Basketball poster, and many other items of interest) and something new for the champions this year as well - so bring your "A" game. What a day!... The fourth annual "Mikey's Place" Golf Classic was a huge success! Today at Goodwin Golf Course, the temperature was hot and the golf was even hotter! At 11:00 am, 21 groups tee'd off and by 4:30 the Champions were toasting at the pavilion! Congratulations go out to my good friends, Tom Avery, Bob Dobmeier, David Simmons, & Chris Walters for their very impressive score of 13 under par to take home the trophies this year. This was the first year that we held the tournament at Goodwin and I have to say, the reviews are all good! The course was in excellent shape, the greens were fast, and the new set-up with the pavilion is outstanding! I would like to thank everyone who came out and played today, as well as all of our volunteers, without whom we could not run this tournament. Congratulations also go to all of our raffle prize winners, of which there are many! I would like to thank the guy's at Goodwin (Mark, Steve, and their crew) for being so accommodating to us. We will be back here again next year! The steaks were probably the biggest you will ever see at a charity tournament, they were awesome! Thanks again to all who played, helped out, or have supported "Mikey's Place" at any time!! The only bad thing about today is that it had to end. Thanks again!!!!!
