SUPPORT OUR TROOPS

Please help our service men and women
to show how much we care!

“Wethersfield, We Care” is a community effort to supply items needed by our men and women in uniform in Iraq. We are collecting for both hospitalized soldiers as well as those in the field.

We are looking specifically for the following items for our hospitalized Soldiers (Please, new clothes only!)

• Sweats (Shirts & Pants sizes S-XL)
  
• Underwear (T-Shirts & Underpants sizes S-XL)
  
• Socks, Bathrobes, Shower Shoes, Personal size deodorant, and Shampoo

We are looking for donations for “care packages” as well:

• Tooth brushes, tooth paste, baby wipes (small packages), disposable razor blades, non aerosol shaving cream, deodorant, beef jerky, granola bars, packets of peanuts, hard candies, dried soup/microwave & other non-perishable foods.
  
• Or, if you prefer, you may make a cash contribution and send your check (before 2/21), payable to "Wethersfield We Care", to:

• All monies collected will be used to buy items for our soldiers.

Look for our storage trailer around Town in the coming weeks with our “Wethersfield We Care” logo on one side and Old Glory on he other.

We’re also looking for volunteers to help collect these items. Please contact Pam Peters @ 257-7728.

Dr.Ken,

This is great!!! I'm sure this will be appreciated! Please don't send any red onions, however, I hear they don't travel well! I noticed that the Keeney Center was not listed as a collection point (anything to get more visitation!) - just a thought!!

Hope you are all doing well in Wethersfield - I am dying to try the new Starbucks and trust it will be open whenever I get back! All that snow you are getting must be just beautiful - sorry to miss it - Bonnie is probably way over budget on hours for snow removal by now!

Also, our unit is collecting school supplies for local Iraqi school children in this region - if anyone is interested in this, they can be sent to my address and we will distribute them:

KUDOS!

Saturday morning, 2/26/2005, was a bee hive of activity at the Pitkin Community Center.

Between 40 and 50 residents of all ages (definitely, heavily weighted to the younger end of the spectrum) gathered in the "gym" to separate, sort, assemble and pack hundreds of pounds of tangible donations.

According to Mayor Morin, before noon that day, some $3700.oo dollars of cash donations had been received. These monetary contributions will be used to purchase goods to create a balanced spread of items and to top off the container (as in containerized freight).
