Challenger League
There is a petition that was presented at the Council Meeting on Monday, May 3 asking that the Challenger League be resurrected in Wethersfield.
The Wethersfield Youth Organization will be requesting information from Wethersfield Little League, the organization that to our knowledge was responsible for the program, the Wethersfield Recreation and Parks Department and is asking that anyone with information would be so kind as to post it here.
If anyone would rather submit information privately, please send a message to my file and I will respond.
The organization, as I remember, was supported by volunteers; parents, siblings, friends, neighbors and school age youths from high school to grade school. Those individuals with disabilities of any kind participated in softball games on Mill Woods Field 1. Often times I remember that the games were just before or after Adult softball or a high school game.
Historical information would be appreciated, as well

Lou, I have no knowledge of the challenger league, but I love the idea and have a suggetion - If we could arrange games to be played at Stillman, players would have access to "Mikey's Place" as well - I would be happy to volunteer my time to umpire or sell hot dogs or whatever. Let me know how you make out.

Sounds like a great idea.
I had a conversation with Little League. It still is under their umbrella but they have not had internal control over the program and therefore have no historical information...but are willing to back it again.
I will speak with Kathy and Marty and hopefully the school representatives and will be looking for someone that would like to chair (or organize) the league from the standpoint of parents and players.

LouS, touch base with the LaCava kid that ran the program for many years. He did a great job and I'm sure he still has the information and contacts that will help support the program.
