Can anything be done by citizens now to force P&Z to revisit their Back Lane approval of the Over-55 project? I thought I heard someone say at last night's Town Council meeting that we could try to get a petition accepted. The commission can vote to reconsider its decision but that is unlikely to happen and it may be too late to do so if the notice of the decision has already been published. The Council can't reverse P&Z and the only place for neighbors to appeal the decision now is in court. Zone changes are hard to overturn on the merits. The best chance for getting it reversed would be on technical grounds such as lack of proper notice or the fact that nearly all of the commission members who voted in the final decision missed one or more of the nights of public hearings.

How about an update; it's been two months and no news or info.
Perhaps those in the know or involved could shed some light on the recent Town/Legal/Courts interaction and events regarding the Harris Property quadmire which have not been reported in the major media - that is unless they are under some kind of judicial restraint or gag order; what's up oldetowne, MikeC, BillR, Syzygy, RDGarrey, or cruzrt?

Not being a member of P&Z or the Town Council or the town attorney, I can only tell you what the public records disclose.
First, the Council had an executive session apparently to discuss this matter prior to the January 3 meeting. See the minutes of the town's website.
Second, the judicial dept database shows nothing regarding the matter of Meskiewicz v. Wethersfield P&Z other than the fact that the case exists. That suggests to me that there are negotiations in progress to make it "go away".

I heard through the grapevine that the judge ruled in favor of the town and the developer and against the neighbors. The neighbors have a couple of weeks to decide whether to appeal or not. We're solving our open space problem one project at a time.
