Provocative question: Now that it's no longer "not about the lights", it's about the lights!
I would like to see all of the affected parties' interests addressed: If lights can be achieved at Cottone Field in a way that protects the neighbors' interests, I am definitely for them. I would love to see those impassioned by our kids' sports (me included), able to enjoy them at night.
Now that zoning remains involved, the likelihood of a system of lights able to address neighborhood issues is probably improved. I hope such a system exists. Proponents say it does. However, if such is not possible, I'd like to see a lighted field elsewhere in town where these concerns are not present.

So, that's 1 yes..? - Elsewhere in town not being an option (we put turf on Cottone, in my opinion, it's time to finish the job). Lights on Cottone - Yes or No ?

I support lights on Cottone field as long as there are some safeguards in place to protect the neighbors from excessive nightime use. Also the limited parking at the High school needs to be looked at. If there is a night game at the same time as any other school function there could be a serious parking/safety issue. If the plan addresses these concerns then I am for it.

It's a qualified "yes"...
...also, just because Council got ahead of itself and put turf on Cottone Field, perhaps without adequately addressing whether it was the optimal place for sports lighting, doesn't mean the Field is the only, or best, place in town to have lights. If an error was made, we shouldn't compound it. The turf stands alone, with or without lights, as a good solution for Cottone that almost everyone supported.
If lights work there, so be it. However, another lighted field without turf or another "turfed" field with lights might be in order if lights cannot be adapted to the current evirons and circumstances.
