Hey, folks,
I suggest that we pay a little more attention where we are posting commentary about tomorrow's (7/21) referendum. Just in case you did not notice, tomorrow's referendum has NOTHING to do with this Town Council, the TXA or Cotton Field.
It has everything to do about:
So, in summary, one last time:
I suggest that we pay a little more attention where we are posting commentary about tomorrow's (7/21) referendum. Just in case you did not notice, tomorrow's referendum has NOTHING to do with this Town Council, the TXA or Cotton Field.
It has everything to do about:
- 1. a mistake by the bond attorney more than four (if not five) years ago, who apparently was cutting corners by "boilerplating" the wording of a Town referendum by using language from a BOE referendum.
- 2. that attorney's mistake is costing this Town Council (unjustified) embarrassment and costing us citizens who pay taxes the expen$e of holding this referendum.
- 3. reasonable people voting YES, YES, YES, to fix this little mistake,
since voting NO would:- cause us to lose nearly $800,000,
- send that $800,000 to some other CT community instead,
- at least cause a temporary stoppage of work at Town Hall and the Library,
- probably force a scaling back of both essential and desireable renovations there,
- force the Town Council to raise at least that much money and probably more (by one means or another, ?another referendum, bonding which equals more town debt service which means higher taxes),
- denies the entire population of Wethersfield the significant services and smooth operation of some of town departments and those of the Libary and
- possibly, disproportionately impact the younger and older citizens town,
- provide the rest of Connecticut and prospective Wethersfield residents another reason to look elsewhere to live, and
- hasten the day (not too far off?) when at least part of Wethersfield is sucked into the quagmire already occupied by our city-neighbor to the north.
- cause us to lose nearly $800,000,
- 4. Acting like mature and reasonable citizens who are willing to help keep the Wethersfield we know and love (and hope it to be even more) Wethersfield.
So, in summary, one last time:
VOTE YES, VOTE YES, VOTE YES!
