Hey, BigKat, Paine offers a special trashcan liner for holding acid whit and sarcasm. Both of these byproducts of selfrighteousness are known carcinogens and are classified, by some, as toxic waste. To avoid contaminating our Town, hazmat professionals could be called in and help you (of course the taxpayers would have to pay for the cleanup, but don't worry, you are worth it). To protect our town, I suggest that you contact Paine's at (860) 844-3003; ask them for their special biohazardous refuse container liner for your barrel. Your cup apparently runneth over. By the way, I have a package of them and they work great. I didn't mind paying for them either. We professionals don't expect a free ride. In the long run, the Paine management system will be seen as a welcome change. (p/s: Get a package for Bulldog too.) I'll see you around.

Mr. Bigkat I think you may have insulted one of Mr Paine's employees!
As an elderly lady on a fixed income I am glad I don't have enough weekly garbage to require the additional money for another can. I put my garbage in smaller bags and then when garbage day comes I wheel the can out to the curb and then bring the garbage bags out and put them in. I have a small car so I am able to fit that big thing in the garage. The only problem is I have to take the car out of the garage in order to wheel the thing out.

After having used the new recepticals, I find that they are both bigger than expected and hold a good deal of trash, as well as look better along the curb than in the past, which on trash day was not a pretty sight.
I do not know the cost structure and potential savings, etc., but I am sure the persons that collect the trash are much happier too!

I like the new cans, but I'll bet our tipping fees will rise.
Every week you could load the can with bricks or other heavy things and who is going to know, as long as the truck can lift it.

The only drawback with the new cans are the trucks have to sit almost in the middle of the road. The real test will be with leaves/snow in the road.

Per the Town:Effective Immediately ! March 15, 2005The Town of Wethersfield will charge $5.00 for replacement of each blue recycling bin, regardless of the reason for its loss or damage. Blue bins may be purchased at the Building Dept (Town Hall, 1177 Silas Deane) or at the Transfer Station (100 Marsh St). If residents chose not to purchase the official blue bin, they may put their recyclables out in any comparable container curbside on refuse pickup day.
